We are glad you are here.
Latticework is the substack of MOI Global, the research-driven membership organization of intelligent investors. It is curated by John Mihaljevic, chairman of MOI Global and author of The Manual of Ideas, now in its second edition with Wiley.
For nearly two decades, MOI Global has hosted summits, published research, and held the kind of conversations that practicing investors find indispensable. Readers range from analysts at independent firms to portfolio managers at the largest investment organizations in the world, including Berkshire Hathaway, Elliott Management, Oaktree Capital Management, Southeastern Asset Management, and many others.
The writing draws on the lattice of disciplines great investors return to — accounting, history, business strategy, psychology, and judgment under uncertainty. The standard is plain: be useful, honest, and worth the reader’s time.

MOI Global
Latticework is an entry point into the world of MOI Global. Through invitation-only events and member publications, we foster a community of intelligent investors united by a passion for lifelong learning.
MOI Global started out nearly two decades ago as The Manual of Ideas, an investment research publication. As we went out to gather and generate uniquely differentiated content for value-oriented investors, we came to appreciate the tight-knit community that had been developing for many years thanks to a strong nucleus formed by the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting.
We realized this was not only a community of exceptionally gifted investors, but that the vast majority of them were also willing to share with and learn from their peers. We were humbled to have an opportunity to bring the wisdom of investors like Chuck Akre, Chris Davis, Jean-Marie Eveillard, Tom Gayner, Howard Marks, James Montier, Mohnish Pabrai, Tom Russo, Guy Spier, Murray Stahl, Will Thorndike, Arnold van den Berg, Ed Wachenheim, and Don Yacktman to others in the community. We also saw an opportunity to leverage the internet to help broaden the appeal of value investing beyond its traditional U.S. base.
We call this membership community MOI Global, with investment research constituting one component of the value we bring to members. Other benefits include exclusive thought-leader interviews; member podcasts; curated idea presentations shared via online events such as the Best Ideas conference, Asian Investing Summit, Wide-Moat Investing Summit, and European Investing Summit; as well as offline experiences such as the Latticework summit, Ideaweek, The Zurich Project, Best Ideas Omaha, and member-run local chapter meetings in many cities globally.
We strive for MOI Global to be a lifelong companion to our members, regardless of employment status, the market cycle, or other transient factors. If you are going through a tough period, it’s likely other members are either experiencing a similar phase or have done so in the recent past. By facilitating the right kinds of introductions and interactions, we strive to support members on their personal growth path. Annual events like The Zurich Project and Ideaweek are ideal settings for fostering the kinds of exchanges and experiences that have an enduring impact.
We periodically invite select high-caliber individuals and organizations to join MOI Global for the benefit of all members.
